There are two reasons for the delay. One, I was indisposed. (Luckily not Covid). Took time to recover though. Many cartoons already in the works got outdated and had to be discarded. Fresh ones took time. This is the occupational hazard of a political cartoonist. One has to race against time. Delay could render it irrelevant. For weekly round-up I was picking subjects not too dynamic for that reason. But that inhibits from being topical.
I have therefore decided to make a change in my schedule.
Henceforth cartoons will be made every day/alternate day covering one of the most engaging topics. It will be my take on the development of the day. There could be gaps if nothing that significant happens. So, single cartoons will be uploaded regularly on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Those on my personal mailing list will continue to get the link hereafter from my daughter Shilpa and Son-in-law Prateek Vishwa who are taking care of the technical side of my Blog RANDOM THOUGHTS- ON -THE- SLY BY EAVESDROPPER. I am grateful to both of them for taking time off from their busy schedule to help me with my Blog from the beginning. ( They run a 3D Visualization & Design Studio catering mostly to foreign clients by the name PVDS (Prateek Vishwa Design Studio). Both are qualified 2D and 3D visualisers respectively). In future you will also get to see some of my published and unpublished works from the archives. Though drawn during earlier regimes, many of them are relevant even today! History keeps repeating itself! Few cartoons/features I did, intended for magazines such as Femina and others but could not be published due to my having to leave Indian Express all of a sudden for taking over a corporate responsibility, I plan to share with you periodically - in due course. The subjects being timeless, I hope you do enjoy.
Last but not the least, Despite all the efforts by politicians, Corona didn’t ‘go away’ and it has now reached our neighbourhoods. Take care and learn to live with it for more time to come – the only option we have. So, do take care, all of you. Bye and Jai Hind!
