RANDOM CARTOONS NO. 31

Updated: Aug 26, 2021

The gold medal by Neeraj Chopra, the first ever individual athletic gold medal by an Indian, breaks the myth that Indians are physically weaker than Europeans, Americans, Africans or the Chinese! We are equally strong - the difference being lack of state support as citizens of those countries do enjoy!

The grooming has to start early. The potential sports talent have to eat a healthy and balanced diet from the early ages for their bodies to acquire the physically tough endurance levels required to successfully compete at international and Olympic competitions. Just sending them for training to foreign countries on the eve of competitions will not do.

Let Neeraj Chopra's javelin gold serve as an eye opener to our govt and its poor sports person support system and most obsolete sports infrastructure and make it opt for a sea change as suggested above, without any loss of time.

If this is done honestly and sincerely and with dedication to the cause of sports, the day will not be too far when Indian national anthem will be heard more often at Olympic stadia and our country will be among the top 10 medal winners. We not only need competent sports persons, but also competent ministers at the sports ministry. Running BCCI and running sports ministry is not the same. Hope Anurag Thakur is listening. India's medal tally in 2024 Paris Olympics depends a lot on him. Hope he will not disappoint. Bye and Jai Hind!

As already mentioned, it's time for the long break on health grounds which may or may not involve travel depending on Covid situation.

During the interregnum, I suggest some of you who have joined late and missed the earlier episodes, to visit my other blogs on this site to access the missed episodes if they so desire. So long, till we meet again.

Here goes my coverage of past fortnight.
