Here I am, back from the Sabbatical. Lots happened during the past month. Trump is history – good riddance of the bull in the China (US) shop! Had he continued, he would have created more mess in the World Order! Too much right wing ideology can upset the equilibrium. The middle path is by far the safest so long as peaceful existence at the end of it all, is all that matters! Unless there is peace, what use is wealth or other material / political gains accruing to few manipulators who benefit from ‘divide and rule’ policy?
History has shown that such leaders have a short tenure – however long the perception may appear to be! Let’s hope and pray the cleansing process will not end with Trump but will continue till all those vested interests masquerading as popular leaders are eventually consigned to the dust bin of history and only those benevolent ones with statesmen like qualities prevail! It has to, as scriptures say right will eventually prevail over wrong! Let’s hope the daily increase in petrol/diesel prices and weekly hike in cooking gas rates done by the govt. for the ‘benefit’ of people will stop before they hit ‘century’ and gas, ‘millennium’! At this rate Rupee to Dollar rate may also do an Ajinkya Rahane and hit a century sooner than we think!
The most worried politician in India today must be Mamta Banerjee! Her ship is being rocked like never before by a well planned concerted efforts by the formidable Modi-Shah duo. It will take a miracle for her to keep the boat from capsizing! It’s not helping that a 10 –year incumbency has already rusted the vessel! Only time will tell! We also have a least worried politician (if he can be called one!) who may have his personal diving gear ready in case the Congress ship sinks to the bottom of the Indian (political) ocean! Such has been the man’s ineptness and lack of seriousness about saving the sinking ship, I wonder why the ‘Gandhi-glue’ brigade still run after him after the ‘Captain’ had already abandoned the ship about two years ago allowing it to drift freely – directionless, ever since! Perhaps when death-wish grips, logic takes a backseat! It’s indeed sad to see the present state of the once mighty Congress Party in the hands of an uncaring irresponsible leadership whose lethargy is unexplainable!
Modiji must have learnt by now farmers are a hard nut to crack! (Water cannons can only wet it – not crack it!) He may be learning too late that dealing with a Rahul Gandhi or Mamta Banerji or Mayawati or even the Tiger-cub Uddhav Thackeray is a child’s play compared to the ‘tough as diamond’ Punjab/Haryana farmers! Will the hitherto unchallenged Modi Juggernaut face it’s toughest challenge in six years from the ‘Annadata’ farming community which is growing in strength day by day with farmers from other states joining them adding to it’s force?!
Modi is convinced the farmer bills are good for the good health of the farmers. But are the farmers convinced? The good medicine in the form of a bitter pill is best swallowed. But if the patient decides to chew it? Modiji is in an unenviable situation! Can he persuade the farmers to swallow the ‘good’ bitter pill? What, if they decide to chew it? Well, here’s where Modi’s monologue style will be put to test! He will find it indeed a handicap! Only dialogue – not monologue will work here. But dialogue isn’t Modi’s forte! Giving long speeches to a captive audience is one thing – having dialogue/debate is another! To avoid debate you can bunk Parliament - but not them farmers! Modi indeed is in a Catch-22 situation! Let’s wait and watch how he negotiates it and emerge – scathed or unscathed!
Finally the much awaited good news is here - Vaccine has arrived! Let’s all heave a collective sigh of relief! Hopefully, Corona may soon be history! But it’ll take time. So let’s not relax our guard! Be as cautious as before. Don’t let go the weapon WMD till ‘all clear’ is sounded by the authorities. Remember, vaccine is not a medicine – it’s only a preventive mechanism! So, let’s all be a little more patient. Let’s continue with the ‘new normal’ before returning to the ‘old normal’! Patience pays! Bye and Jai Hind!
PS: The developments during the long gap resulted in many cartoon ideas. Had to discard many. Yet there are 12 this time. 8 of them cover current live topics. 4 at the end are slightly dated yet very much relevant. I didn’t discard those 4 as I thought the subject concerned are still valid. Here goes:
